NEW DELHI: Following Team India’s historic triumph in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced a cash reward of Rs 131 crore for the team.
Led by Suryakumar Yadav, co-hosts India lifted the trophy on Sunday after a dominant 96-run victory over New Zealand in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
With the win, India successfully defended their title and became the first team in history to retain the T20 World Cup. The triumph also made India the first team to win the tournament three times, strengthening their position among the most successful sides in the format.
In an official statement, the BCCI congratulated the players, selectors, and support staff for the achievement and extended wishes for continued success.
The board described the victory as a powerful reflection of depth in the country’s cricket and the structures that sustain excellence and nurture talent at the highest level.
BCCI Officials Praise Team India
BCCI president Mithun Manhas described the achievement as a moment of immense pride for the nation.
“To defend the title and achieve this feat on home soil makes it even more special,” he said.
He praised captain Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Gautam Gambhir, the selectors, and the squad for outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia pointed to India’s golden phase in cricket, highlighting the team’s triumph at home in both the ICC Women’s World Cup last year and the T20 World Cup.
He also acknowledged former BCCI secretary Jay Shah for strengthening the global standing and structures of Indian cricket.
Vice-president Rajeev Shukla, joint secretary Prabhtej Bhatia, and treasurer A Raghuram Bhat also praised the squad’s determination, unity, and composure, noting that strong foundations and meticulous planning played a crucial role in the victory.
India’s Dominant Win in the Final
